R-Day Open House (July 2007): Reception and souvenirs for families of new cadets on R-Day, the day the new
cadets enter West Point. Ten members of the Class of 1961 and six spouses
greeted new cadet family members; two were members of the official party during
the swearing-in ceremony. Cost: $5,819.52

New Cadet March Back (August 2007): Forty-two members of the Class of 1961 participated in the new cadet march
back from Camp Buckner at the conclusion of Beast Barracks, now known as Cadet
Basic Training. USMA function, no cost.

Acceptance Day Parade (August 2007,
2008, 2009, 2010):
The Class of 1961 class president, or another class representative, and
representatives of the three other 50-year classes affiliated with the classes
in the Corps are part of the official reviewing party when the new cadets are
accepted in the Corps. Class representation – 2007 (Bob Glass), 2008 (Ed
Brown), 2009 (?), and 2010 (?). USMA function, no cost.

2011 Class Crest Unveiling (April
2008):
Dick Buckner and Al Vanderbush represented our class at the unveiling of the
2011 class crest by CDT Mike McCullough, the 2011 class president. USMA
function, no cost.

Yearling Flag Ceremony (July 2008):
Chuck Armstrong, Bruce Shroyer, and Al Vanderbush presented the class flag to
the Class of 2011 at the conclusion of Cadet Field Training, Camp Buckner.

· Cow Affirmation Ceremony (August
16, 2009):
Presentation of the Class of 2011 coin to members of the class at the beginning
of cow year when the cadets become committed to military service. The Class of
1961 principal representative speaks during the ceremony and sits on auditorium
stage. A small number of additional Class of 1961 representatives are part of
the official party.

· Class Ring Memorial Program (1 March
2010):
Attend the ceremony when donated class rings are melted and join the gold for
the class rings. The Class of 1961 representatives attend the event and speak
on behalf of the class.

· Class Ring Weekend (August 2010):
Attend ring weekend activities. The Class of 1961 representatives sit on stage
during the ring ceremony and participate in the reception following the
ceremony. They also attend the Ring Banquet and Hop.
· First Class – First Brass (November
2010):
Presentation of branch insignia at branch selection. The Class of 1961
representatives sit with official party during ceremony and attend reception
following the ceremony.
· First Class/AOG Dinner (January
2010):
Dinner for cadet class officers, senior AOG leadership, and class of 1961 class
officers.
· Graduation Packet (May 2011):
Miniature, laminated, pocket-sized personalized diploma and other items
including a congratulatory letter from the Class of 1961.
· 2LT Bars (May 2011):
Presentation of 2LT bars upon graduation. The Class of 1961 representatives
present each new graduate their first set of lieutenant bars.
